The Worst Event That I Conducted

There isnt a lot of event that went sour for me but one that  instantaneously came to my mind is the Math Quiz event at my sekolah menengah. Back in my sekolah menengah days, me and my 3 best friends would opt for the same club, same badan beruniform and same sports club for our co-curriculum program.

Every Thursday, our school would held a co-curriculum program which occurs in the evening after the academic period. Me and my pals join a club called Kelab Matematik & Sains. On one fine day, the club decided to run a math quiz event which an event in which the club members would form groups and try to solve as many math problems as possible in a given time. The problems was taken from the International Mathematic Olympiad IMO and the chosen problems were considered to be an easy to mild difficulty. 

Me and my pals forms a group of 4 and I have been appointed as the group leader. Each group was given out 5 question to be solve in a period of 2 hours. As the question were given out, all participants starts solving it as quick as we can. Then it hit us, this so called easy IMO question turned out to be one of the most difficult question we have ever encountered even though the problems only require us to have basic geometry knowledge. All of us struggles a lot and some even took out a text book to solve it. After 1 hour of trying, we realize that we have only completed 1 problem and 4 left to go. Same could be said for other groups. Then, 2 hours passed by, the time is up and we only managed to complete 3 questions. We then presents the question and our solutions on whiteboard and manage to get it all correct. 

This event is truly a tragic one as it was a truly a  depressing 2 hours of looking at math problems that is too much for us regular students to handle. This event taught us the hard reality of the dark side of mathematics. Ever since then, the club has set a lower bar for the question for upcoming events. It was really shocking to realize that a what taught would be a fun little event was going to be the most depressing times in the club.
